It’s been a while but I think you put the flap linkage inside the wing. With the hinge points being lower then the flap itself you need the opposite for leverage.

on mine and another I saw the entire canopy mechanism was installed backwards at the factory.... Best part is they don't give you any pics or instructions so you have to assume they did it right......
