Ive tried that. Once the flap hits mid the ailerons and the rudder hall ass. Makes the plane look silly when you go to full flap.

I am not sure about spectrum, but on futaba, you can create a virtual function, like airbrake. Unlike a normal function (like ailerons, anything), a virtual function does not have it's own servo outputs assigned. You assign a switch orknob to the function just like any normal control.

Set "airbrake" speed as slow as you want.

Now set mixers from "airbrake" as the master to whatever you want to control as the slave.

Is there anyone making a super scale Hornet cockpit in 1/6 scale? StrictlyScale do a nice 1/6 ejection seat but that’s all I can find.
Cheers

I am building the C model. Will be powering with K-310. I also had a scale cockpit made by 3D Scale. Very high quality. I have the Strictly Scale ejection seat kit as well.

Cool thanks Bass pilot. Was your cockpit a custom build or do they offer them as stock? Did your cockpit come built and painted?

I went the single option with my C model too. P300

Thanks

Cockpit came built and painted. You will have to make the mounting and attachment points.

Thanks Basspilot. Have you got an email address for them? Contact details are not very clear on their site.

Thanks again

Shout out to Dirk at Pacific RC Jets.

I got my F-18F in last week. It had shipping damage from bad packing. Dirk was way cool about helping coming up with a fare plan to get it taken care of. Stuff happens, its how its dealt with that makes the difference. BTW Skymaster painted my gear in this egg shell white, not the low gloss white that it should have. Make sure that before you order that you specify before ordering.

My Skymaster F-18, 1:5.75, is now official authorised by CIvil Aviation Authority Switzerland with a max take-off mass of 32kg.
Wing load check was 90kg on each wing. Reto Senn from Swissland

That truly has to be mentally difficult to let someone put that kind of weight on the wings with wood boards that could scratch the paint. I see the foam in the front under the nose. I’m sure that you have a lot of foam under the tail section. Otherwise it could cause denting, hairline cracks, and other damage to the top surface of the airframe. Just testing and proving that it can take the G’s, could end up totaling the jet.
Congrats!

Has anyone had much flight time on the single turbine version with bifurcated pipe? I know of a few guys in the building stage with the single but none flying.
I ordered mine through Intairco here in Oz about 13 weeks ago so I’m hoping I’ll have it soon. P300 to go in.

Hi Levi, I don’t have the single version but have you checked to see if the 300 will fit? Just looking at the room inside that seems impossible to fit.

Hey Fender. Skymaster John sent me some photos of the single install. Looked like enough room but I haven’t seen one in the flesh. Sounds like I’ll have some dremel work to do hey.

Awesome Andrew. Beautiful plane. Congrats. I almost went the twin option but I’ve got a twin Mig 29 in my fleet so I didn’t want two twins. I was trying to keep it light and simple. Great to hear some positive feedback on the Hornets flying envelope. Michel from JetsRC raves about his also. Sounds like a winner.
Thanks
Levi

Given the challenges faced by Fenderbean, does anyone know if Skymaster has address the quality issues Fender highlighted? This is a plane in which I have a lot of interest but not if the quality isn't there. Grateful for any thoughts

From what I have seen they have the same problems they had back when I got mine. Talked to a friend and Kentucky with a 1/5 F16 and he was having issues with the lights. We checked the wire connectors and like mine they never stripped the wires and crimped the connectors around the sheilding.

Matt mine went in because I used the stock angle of the engine mounting rails thinking they must know what they are doing for them to be at those angles. Turns out you must use washers to align the engines to the correct angles for single engine flight. For some reason they won’t build a jig and install them straight at the factory. I’ve seen several now And all had misaligned rails.

My plane was the same way with the lights, and my gear is not white! I’m thinking I’ll go with twin 160s. I’m at 5500ft and I’m hoping it with feels good.

Thanks for the feedback and pms'. You've all really confirmed my suspicions that little has changed. No manufacturer is perfect and we all expect to do some work but, for my part, I do expect the fundamental issues to be correct - 'alignment' being as fundamental as it gets.
So - I'll just have to pass which is a shame - I love that plane!
