RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

I figured that if I put this much money and time into my jet, that I would want it to look the part. The functional oleos also add a level of absorption on the airframe. I have seen Reactions with...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

I am putting this on the Reaction site in response to an email that I just received about my retracts and struts. They seem to be working very well, and I would like to pass on what I had to do to...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Here is the picture of my tiller bar modification to the rudder. I think that the picture is worth a thousand words here, but when you actually see the setup, it looks very simple. I actually made...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Thanks for the complements. Not sure which white stripe you are referring to. I have painted formation lights on the side and the tail. They look sort of white. The other that you may be...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Ring up another Reaction 54 pilot. I did my maiden flight, and what a blast. I was flying from a grass field, and using half flaps for take off. I think that I would just leave them off as it was...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Well the painting is finally finished, and almost ready for the maiden flight. I took it to the Belleville jet rally yesterday, but had a couple of small things that kept me from doing the maiden...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Very nice finish Tommy. I realy like the fillets that you did. As you mentioned, the film covering does go on faster, but gets tired over time.

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Just wanted to show the progress of my Reaction 54. In the photo, it is fully glassed in 3/4 oz cloth with Zpoxy resin and ready for paint. It is now actually primed and base coated in white. I...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Thanks Bruce. Yes I apparently did get the parts, but I did not look far enough to bring all the parts together. It is all here, and now it makes sense. Thanks once again.

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Thanks for the replies on the shutoff valve. This confirms what I thought. Now I have another question. I am including a photo of my P60 and the mount that I got from BTE. I do not see how this...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

I am at the stage where I need to sheet the top rear of the fuselage, and am wondering why I need to put the hatch and fuel shutoff there. Is there a reason that I can not put the fuel shutoff in...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Veering away from using the wire struts has proved to be a bit of a challenge. but things are moving along well now. As you can see, I have had to change the way that the nose strut is mounted in...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

As you can see, things are going together great. Progress is being made with the plane starting to make small jet noises in my workshop.

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Things are coming along well on my build. Here is a picture of the wing almost completely sheeted. I have chosen to due the full sheeting, as I will be glassing the plane.

I thought that I would show the progress as I go through the Reaction build. I must say that the kit is amazing. The parts fit is perfect, and that this is truly a joy to build. The instructions...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

I would like to hear from people that have tried retracts other than the Robart 530 that is recommended. I fly half the time off grass, and wounder about the 530 holding up. I have looked at the...
