RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

JustFlyIt,

I had the Prolinks on my R54. Mains and nose. The airplane sat nose low. It was not much of a problem except that it tended to "pop" off the runway a little so you need to be ready...

Don,

I used the Intairco brakes/wheels also. They work great!

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

JustFlyIt,

I used the DW trailing links in my Reaction. Got almost 400 problem free flights off of grass and then sold it. The guy who bought it is still having the same problem free...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Tommy,

I fly off of a smooth grass field with a Reaction. It has well over 200 flights on it so far. This is the jet that I learned on. It has small Prolink main struts and a small Prolink...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

John,

Look at post #2406. That's my yellow and blue Reaction with the small Prolink strut in front with a 2.25" wheel, both from Todd at Dreamworks. I fly off of grass and now have 152 flights...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Mine is the yellow and blue R54 in the front. P70, Prolink struts (rides like a Caddy on the grass!). Dave (xxspeed) is the one on the right and Albert Santiago, an IMAC flyer, is on the left. ...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Hi Gandalv,

Here are some photos of my main gear mod:

As for the nose gear, the bulkheads are in the stock position. The Prolink small front strut with a 2.25" wheel fits right in. I...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Gandalv,

I am building another wing for my R54 (thanks Bruce!). Since I fly off of grass and I like some "bling", I decided to change over to the small Prolink struts from Dreamworks. I was...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

John,

I am using 1/4" of crow and it seems to help. One thing that I read somewhere (can't remember where) is that when on final, you don't want to be able to see the top or bottom of the...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Hi John,

Sorry to hear about your damage. I too have had problems getting the Reaction to settle into a landing. Today we had winds up to 20 and the Reaction handled it great. The trick is to...

Thanks Dave, that's what I thought. You didn't JB Weld it? Just the grub screw holding the strut on?

Good luck at Top Gun!

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

ww2birds,

I've got the mains all set, thanks for all the help. Another question though. If I use a 660 offset strut in the front or the Dreamworks nose gear you used, what secures it the the...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the info. It looks like I have to cut off 3" from the top of the strut. It feels like there is something inside the strut at about 2.5". I don't want to cut through...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Ok guys. I want to upgrade the landing gear on my Reaction to something a little more sturdy. I was looking at installing Robostruts 660 since they would bolt right in to the existing units. It...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Hi dsiems,

No, I haven''t yet. I have to move a couple of channels around to get the crow going. I won''t get to it until next week. But I am looking forward to giving it a try!

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Made 2 flights yesterday. I took 2 ounces out of the nose which seems to have solved the nosing down when turning issue. It also makes landing even slower of you can believe that.

We had a...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Thanks for your responses.

I am using 30% expo on the elevator. I think that I'll reduce that a bit. Also, I think that I will remove 4 ounces of nose weight to start (I have 1.25 pounds up...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Another thought. You can always set up a throttle curve to get the feel you want. But do that after you get used to everything.

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

John,

Just remember this. If you have not flown a turbine before. 90% of the power occurs in the last 10% of throttle. The lag time when you need power is a few seconds, not instant like our...
