RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

I think it is hard to beat a simple on/off button switch operated by a mini servo. Set the gas pressure in the tank to provide the kind of braking you want and forget it. A small air tank will...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Thanks Mark. I knew the A/C was gonna be out, but that wouldn't have influenced me one way or another! I bet there wasn't many people there.

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Well I got a little time to work on my Reaction today and I built some tail feathers L-39 style! I know the last picture washed out but the leading edge of the fin will also tie in to the rear...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Bob, I like to put a double loop through the steering arm and place the ferrule close to the steering arm(the cable passes throught the steering arm twice) so it can't loop around, but also I use the...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

I don't know how many people are doing this, but I am going to fuelproof in the boat tail, tank compartment and the next 2 forward. I'm not concerned about leaks as much as during routine...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

The only problem I see with using heat shield is it not shiny and any smudges or marks will be real hard to remove since it has a texture is's finish

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Perhaps you should check your amp draw with a Hanger 9 inline ammeter to see if there is a bind.

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Barry, it seems the concern over the inlets and somewhat covered engine was cooling for the engine. Did you notice any areas on the fuse that got too warm?

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

It looks great Barry. I was thinking of some type of fuel proofing just in case of a fuel leak or spill.

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Gaston, I drilled a 1/4" drill bit into a 4x4 and then loosened the chuck. I then attempted to drill a hole in the end and I barely made a dent. That is when I made the other goof up.

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Thanks Bob and I'll guess we'll run some numbers Mark.

Thanks!

As a side note I overted disaster today. My first mistake was trying to use a pneumatic grinder to drill that 1/4" hole. ...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Bob, the stock tail height is about 11". The scaled L-39 tail is 19" tall. So that is a considerable increase in area. Also the fuse width at the front of the wing is 5 1/2" on the stock Reaction....

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Actually I am more concerned with the increase in the fuselage area in front of the wing (bottom area) and how it will affect CG at the wing. It will probably need to shift forward a bit.

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Yes, I am scaling it from a 3 view I have. I am one of those people who get as much pleasure from building as flying and I have a desire to make projects "unique".

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Once I mount the wing I will start working on the rear turtledeck and redesigned tail surfaces. The tail surfaces will employ built up construction.

More to come.........

And now for a preview of the "Reaction". There are a few members here that have been clued to what I am modeling (a scale subject). I will retain the exposed engine/boat tail for ease of use and...
