RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Hi All,

My son and I just returned from the Thundermountain Jet Rally in Whitefish MT. We had a great time! It was good to see Bruce Tharpe once again and watch him fly his Reaction 54. ...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Flew four more flights with the Reaction yesterday,

Full brakes and full power. When I released the brakes the Reaction took off in at least 90 feet! We put the 72 ounce tank in the Reaction and...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

I certainly wouldn't say that the Reaction is overpowered in any way with the P-70. I think it is just perfect to with the full 17.5 lbs. So if I were you I wouldn't derate it. You will love to have...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Well,

In all honesty the way I fly it, is comparable to our Bobcat. I really do wring that Reaction out and I am around 80% power the whole flight. With the occasional burst full throttle across...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

If you do go with a P-70 it will really scoot. I have flown it with a P-60, and the P-70 is MUCH better! Faster takeoffs, Powerful veritcals and better landings. Although I wouldn't dive full...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

In fact with the added weight of the P-70, the Reaction seems to settle a lot better while still landing the same speed as if it were 20 lbs compared to 25 lbs. It doesn't jump into the air either....

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

You guys shouldn't be worried for and 400' runway. With a P-70 and a little headwind it will ge up in 100' easy! Then when you are ready to land, it only uses 1/4 of the runway. :)

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Chris,

76oz on board gives me a safe 8min. You'll probably want to lengthen your flight time a little more to burn off the excess weight of the fuel??

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Chris,

The P-70 DOES make a drammatic difference. Take offs are quicker, vertical is awesome, speed is there, but most impressive is that the extra weight makes it settle on landing. My P-60...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Hi U2fast,

I've had the unique experience of flying the R-54 with a p-60 and then re-built it with a P-70. The P-70 makes this a completely different animal. In my opinion, upgrading is worth...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

speedbrake,

Nice Job! It looks awesome. I'm interested to see what your mods do to the flight characteristics?

Dang, we've got a balmy 19 degrees here. My P-70 won't pump jet fuel...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

We flew our maiden today in 25 degree weather!
Had trouble with the kero start. I'm not sure exactly what the problem was, whether it was weather related or battery. It takes a lot of JUICE to...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Thanks for the adivice everyone. We are going to put the P-70 in it this time. I think it will be a lot of fun. I have a had enough experience (200MPH+) to handle the 170MPH top speed of...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Hey guys

I was just wondering if it is really worth making mods to fit a P-70 in the Reaction. It seems like a lot of guys love it and I think having flown it on the P-60, it might turn the...

What struts are you using. They look awesome. Did they require much modification?

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit

Hi Dave,

I noticed that you switched out your braking system. With the UP6 valve requiring another servo, are you slaving it to one of your already occupied 9 channels on your 9Cap?

We...

RE: Reaction 54 Jet Kit
