John - do not use a dry chemical (powder type) fire extinguisher. It will ruin your turbine. Use CO2 or Halatron. CO2 is cheaper.

We had the CG on Maxvertical (Chris R.) aprrox in the middle of the 6 inch to 7 inch range. At 6 inches we were slighly nose heavy, and at 7 inches a little tail heavy.

Well guys - we have a new jet pilot that joined the group today - Maxvertical (Chris R.). We signed his waiver today, and he flew 6 flights on his new R54. The plane is still in its primed version...

Marty,

I used the straight strut 660 and they work really great. I cut 2 coils off the spring, but that might not be necessary. Depends on how stiff you want them.

The Robart 661's work just fine. I have over 30 flights on them, including some hard landings, and they have never bent. You will need to shorten them, but that is very easy to do with a Dremel cut...

I fly at both Shelton and at Whidbey Island. BTW, I have friends who live in Hillsboro.

Do you have a waiver already, or are you just starting out?

You may only want 45 degrees flaps. A bunch if us in the Northwest are only using about 40 degrees with great success. However, I've seen other use 60 degrees and they like it....

Did you get the R54 manual with the plane? If not, I can give you the recommendation that Bruce Tharpe (BTE) gives for control surfac throws.

I had 15% expo and didn't really notice anything different. I changed to 25% but haven't flown it yet at that setting.
