I have the same fire risk issue and had considered changing it to electric ducted fan. What were the issues that precluded shifting it to electric ducted fan?

After I purchased the R54 my field banned turbines. Having recommendations on how to make it an EDF would make it much easier to fly at multiple fields.

I ordered one last week. Bruce is planning to ship starting this coming week. If it flies like his other designs it will be an excellent aircraft.
