Ah, CARF supply that small rectangular tank as a bubble trap that you make yourself. So either make it as a bubble trap or use a commercial unit.
Smoke tank with a felt clunk does not need a bubble trap with the good tank shape and felt pick up

Dave,

Thank you for the clarification. I think I got the lineup now.

Now as far as the fuel lines or concerned you are recommending to stick to the for 4MM supplied lines. On my other big jets that are in series I use 6MM fuel line or a 3/16 tygon. I also use high flow set up inside my tanks as well.

Do you not recommend I swap that out for 6mm or 3/16 tygon in the mephisto since it is in series?

I do a lot of aerobatics and a lot of inverted flying and I've had a few flame out because off not having the proper fuel lines and auto restart saving me in the past.

I want to make sure that this parallel set up is quite different than all my series set up.

I have a BF300 as the power plant.

I think BF use 4mm o/d std tube from the pump to the turbine. The tube supplied with the CARF kit is 6mm o/d and 4mm i/D this is from the tanks to the hopper. Inside the tanks I would use 5/32 i/d Tygon tube.
Other than this you should be fine, with a 300 the Mephisto will do normal aerobatics with low throttle, full power and pump supply is only used if you hover.
You should modify the ducting for the 300 as its a large turbine that blocks the full byepass.

Dave

Do you have any photographs or additional information about the modifications required to accommodate the BF300?

I'm away with work so can't take any photo's but there are a few options.

I think CARF intended people to use side mount servo's which can be mounted to a wooden plate (supplied with the kit) to the composite surface over the top of the doors. I used the wooden plate and glued it to the side wall next to the door hinge and screwed the servo to that (obviously one each side). It sounds more complicated than it was - it was a pretty straight forward set up.

There is plenty of space, pitch vector servo just needs to miss the chine opening.

One without the pipe in if it helps (and wires everywhere).

Do you have to flip the airplane over to attach the wings? I hope not.
Thanks

Mine is pretty close to being finished (waiting on the turbine still) but thought I'd snap some pics while working on the radio set up and starting on building the next one for a mate of mine.

Same here. Any ideas on release date? Also any chance you are flying on Futaba?

It 3D’s fine with a 220, big knife edge loops, it just won’t allow you to hover until the last minute of the flight. Flying weight will have an effect, it’s a big model, so even wiring type and routing can add a few hundred grams. If you watch Tim’s video that is 3-Ding with 250N

It should do most things and maybe even hover in the last few mins. I got a K260 that I bench tested yesterday. Wow - just like the K210 - fast spool up - fired right up. Auto restart works just fine.

I plan to fly it in the Mephisto soon and then replace it with the revised K310 when it is out.

As far as your Futaba setup - are you using a single receiver or dual and are you using a power distribution box?

Chet
